Looking through the lens of my camera I capture all sorts of people hanging out on the beach. I take photos of people enjoying everyday life and translate what I see, once I break down the colours and tones, onto the surface of the canvas or wood. This collection of works was inspired by the coastal Australian landscape, exploring everyday life on Sydney's beaches. I've used a simplified abstract style drawing from photographs and I like to leave enough of a representation of the human form that allows the viewer to interpret it in his or her own way. I don't really think a lot about the emotional content of the paintings I paint, they just happen. They are the subject matter of everyday life.
