All summer long I spent a lot of time beneath the surface of the ocean as waves moved overhead. I used my GoPro and my iPhone - in an AxisGo underwater housing - and got some really great shots that I translated onto both canvas and paper. The movement, the subtle change in tones and colours as the waves rolled in has helped me create some beautiful abstract pieces. I find that the larger I go with the painting, the more interesting it becomes.
