This strip of land is long and narrow and runs parallel to the mainland. It is everchanging, the grains of sand blown by winds and tumbled by the surf. This area has a variety of natural migrating sand dunes, fresh and saltwater marshes and ponds, wooded swamps, tidal flats, streams, and deciduous and coniferous forests.
